I wonder if anyone has highlighted the importance of the employment that The Fox and Hounds has always generated, not just in Wolford but in Todenham too?
I worked odd evenings and weekends with Carlo and Doreena from 1974 – washing up. In 1976 I was promoted to waitress and then in 1978, at 18, shifted to serving behind the bar – making room at each stage for the next age group to start! My daughter then also worked there……. with Gill and family
Pub/restaurant work in the “local” is often one of the very few jobs available to youngsters, often still school/college age, in any village.
